What to do if you have a swarm or bees nest

This bee rescue service was a joint effort between HoneyHoney and City of Burlington to save the Honeybees in an Oak tree. Project was extremely successful, thank to all who assisted in saving these honeybees!

We’re committed to beekeeping in Canada, supplying a 100% pure product from our hives to jars and caring for the bees like they are part of own family. We usually sell out of honey by late fall to end of December because people can’t get enough the awesome tastes which flow in your mouth. Others quoted “I really forgot how real honey should taste like” and “it reminds me when I was very young”…”man the honey today isn’t like it was long time ago”…”I love the taste of your summer blossom”. We also provide presentations to children, teens and adults concerning honeybees. See  “Touch our bees” program for more bee involved. Kids really enjoy our  4-5 hr seminar/s where they are exposed to theory, touching our honeybees and making of scented candles or craft. For Testimonials click here.

The honeybees were sealed in the trunk of the Oak tree and released after the trunk was dropped off on a safe property to be later removed. Tree Truck sealed ucial to honeybee/s survival, here we see the gap of the tree cover with plywood to prevent the bees from attacking the workers

The Honeybees were safely sealed so that the workers wouldn’t get stung. Potentially thousands of bees would defend their home.

These Oak trees posed a risk to citizens and were removed however the honeybees were not harmed in any way whatsoever and nobody got stung.

The City of Burlington is commended for their efforts to save the honeybees of the tree which was being removed. The entire project was successful and everything went smoothly. The Crew was extremely friendly and helpful while all safety measures were taken to ensure both bee and human safety. Thank you City of Burlington for going the distance and saving the bees!

The split tree is where the bees made their home, it was sealed at sun light before the honeybees took flight

Beekeeping is rewarding for many reasons, but having fresh, organic honey straight from your own bees is possibly and most satisfying. The health benefits of honey, pollen have been well-known long before modern medicine appeared.

Our bee colonies are located in the northern range of the Carolinian Forest (in Ontario) where exotic trees, flowers such as wild orchids, blood-root, eastern red bud, shag bark hickory trees to mention a few are found exclusively in these areas of Canada. There are of course apple, cherry, pear trees which offer the additional summer flower blossom flavours. With the right working environment/s, eliminating the neurotoxins will yield more healthier bees better quality honey while benefiting our health and environment. Our products are perfect for whomever is seeking a healthier living lifestyle.

Honeybee swarm

Honeybees are extremely crucial to human, bird, animal and insect survival and existence on earth because without these little insects our foods supply would be in serious shortage and we would be overrun by certain types of insects. Bee kind to bees because they pollinate over 109 essential fruit trees and vegetables. Imagine our grocery stores where only 1/3 of all vegetables and fruits you see would be available for sale and how boring our selection of foods would be if our pollinators where to go extinct.

Honey Bee Rescue

             Honey Bee Rescue

Europe recently banned the use of neonicotinoids and voila surprisingly the bee populations are recovering. Ask yourself why Canadians particularly our government ministries both federally and provincially sells our souls to the highest bidder? and causing much health-related issues in our society. These chemicals are considered neurotoxins. The USA is now creating another equivalent chemical which will be more harmful to our health and environment?

The use of these chemicals must be stopped as it hurts our environment, insects, birds, the health of children, adults and families while it costs our health system billions of dollars.

Neonicotinoids harms worker

One fellow treating his crops with neonicotinoids for many years is now disabled while his limbs fingers are totally deformed and of no use. He is not capable to live on his own because of this harsh chemical neonicotinoids which is being market throughout the world while millions of tons are being manufactured and poured into our streams from run off, spayed on soybeans, corn, and wheat and will take decades before the half life of these chemicals are realized. We are all exposed to these chemicals on a daily basis and many are dying or suffering side effects from these chemicals including the honeybees. Just imagine if every farmer sustained a 60% live stock loss every year, what kind of uproar that would cause. Well folks the honeybee is a precursor to what will happen to both livestock and humans notwithstanding that it is already happening to humans all over the world.

Forager bee usually more mature transferring nectar to a inside the hive storage worker honeybee-they live about 41 days

Carniolan Bee

HoneyHoney uses the “Carniolan Bee” a subspecies of the western bee (from Slovenia) for all its honey production although we will be and have diversified our queen bee selections over the next few years from various well-known beekeepers in Ontario. The Carniolan bee has fantastic pollen and nectar gathering capabilities, it is a very gentle and non-aggressive, usually not prone to robbing (theft of honey into other colonies) although other bee species will rob honey stores without hesitation, better survival rates over winter etc. and generally a species most beekeepers across Canada use in their respective apiaries.

Introduction of variety of bee species

Ontario beekeepers have introduced certain species of honey bee/s in attempts to increase the honeybee colony/apiary diversity, increase honey production, prevent both colony collapse from various diseases such as colony collapse disorder and chemical toxins.

The honeybee pollinates 109+ various types of vegetables, fruits notwithstanding all of the wild plants they cross pollinate that otherwise, if weren’t for the bees would cause world food shortage and much civil unrest. Did you know that one of every 3 bites of food is the result of the foods which the honey bee has pollinated (Hackenberg, 2012). An average bee colony has over 50,000 teenager female worker bees, one queen bee and several thousand drones (male bees) and can visit over 100,000 flowers each day.
